Missouri athletics cell phone goof

September 30, 2009 by chip_kain · 1 Comment

Missouri_TigersAccording to the Kansas City Star newspaper, Missouri made a big mistake when it sold off a bunch of used athletic department cell phones. They forgot to erase the phones of text messages and other information. Missouri’s athletic department sold 25 cell phones at a surplus auction and made a whopping $190 bucks off the sale. Mike Bellman “found himself in possession of all kinds of information, including text messages, contact numbers and e-mails from folks like football coach Gary Pinkel, basketball coach Mike Anderson and athletic director Mike Alden,” according to the Star.

The Star goes on, “Bellman said he’ll require any buyer to sign an affidavit claiming to be a fan of the Missouri Tigers and won’t sell them to, say, operatives from Kansas or Nebraska.”

If I ever work there, I’ll be using my own personal cell phone. And by the way, if they were iPhones, they could remotely wipe the phones clean.
